Tips on How to Shop for Mexican Auto Insurance: If you are planning a road trip to Mexico, acquiring quality Mexican auto insurance should be one of your top priorities. It is not much fun to think about having a car accident in Mexico, but it will be even less fun if you end up getting in an accident and you dont have quality Mexican auto insurance to back you up.... Who else to ask but the experts! My wife and I plan on doing some extensive "adventure travelling" throughout Mexico. As part of the budgeting process I am trying to figure out how a Class B motorhome would be classified on the "cuotas". Would it be a "pick-up/panel", an "autobus" or a "C2"?... (more)
Wow! We're actually here! We left Winter Haven, Florida, on Jan. 2nd, where we were freezing to death, drove slowly across I-10, still freezing to death, until we reached San Antonio on Jan. 7th. This is where we were to meet with Bruce and Judy, our friends from Massachusetts, and Donna and Dell from Winter Haven. Via our cell phones, we knew that Donna and Dell were going to be delayed a day, but Bruce and Judy showed up right on time, so all seemed OK.... (Until we reached the border)....Thus, if a tow car is brought along as a 2nd vehicle, it has to be put into a 2nd persons name. All the paperwork has to be separated into one car or motorhome per person....Important: This also means having a credit card in each persons name.... (more) by Char & Al Bennett
Oaxaca Trailer Park is a busy crossroads, where we met people coming north, who had traveled down the Gulf Coast through the Yucatan peninsula & Chiapas, and people heading south, like us. Some people spend only a night, others stay for months. (more) by Reta & Dick Bray
Since our friends had never been to Mexico while Al and I have been there several times (but never camping), I drew up what I considered to be a very encompassing itinerary.... including some new places for us. But we were also anxious to show off some of our favorite places from past trips, so I included those also.....So, in general, here is our itinerary: Crossing at Laredo, well head to Zacatecas, then the Guadalajara area. From there well visit ..... (more) By Char & Al Bennett
We headed through the Mexican customs checkpoint with the random red or green light. Of course we got the red light. They asked for our import permit, passport and vehicle registration. The customs man began looking Winnie over....but, it seemed to be taking a little too long. I was starting to wonder if something might be wrong. I saw a grim look on his face. Then he hit us with the bad news. This is not this car. (in Spanish).
....My heart started pounding hard; my fluent Spanish was reduced to dribble and I could not speak.....Winnie's troubles had just begun: (more) by Paige & Rich Demuth

"I just finished reading your article on the Perfect RV, and I gotta tell ya' -- you're close but off the mark.
How do I know? Welllll, I'm a very experienced RVer and a moderately experienced Mexico traveler, as well as a former RV tech, aaaaaaand we just bought the perfect RV for Mexico -- a Class B motorhome. For those unfamiliar with the beast, it's an extended van with a raised roof, converted to a motorhome....I'll start by telling you what I think is wrong with your choice, which is based on our trip through Mexico last year in a similar rig...." "I've got a recommendation for you....a 23 ft ultra-lite travel trailer....I do not and will not ever "tow" any vehicle behind my RV. My sister tows her car behind their 38 ft motor home and most times they can't even get into the big RV parks around here without unhooking it. They also have trouble parking in restaurant parking lots to eat...." (more) by Terry Gresham
"I've probably spent more time in an RV in Mexico than most folks and I can tell you that I am firmly convinced that there is no perfect RV. Most everything is a compromise. For instance, when I park a monster trailer, I can detach and take Nellie Belle to places where a VW van would refuse to go. Your van is much more economical and here's where the great decision on a compromise comes in..." (more) By David "El Codo" Eidell

A few kms before getting to Teacapan there is a campground called Rancho Las Lupitas along the highway. Just past Rancho las Lupitas, turn right towards the sea and follow a dirt road for about 1+ km. We saw lots of dolphins playing in the bay and a couple came right up to shore persuing fish. Also, this is a great birding area. by Gerry and Maureen Recksiedler
